Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies

“...through the horses.... my coping skills, patience, concentration, have all improved and are helping my outlook on life."
Working with horses has a calming effect. They are empathetic, attuned to human emotion, and tend to reflect the behaviours of individuals who are around them. Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies help with building skills and confidence, providing a sense of empowerment and control, reducing anxiety, coping with trauma, and improving mental and physical health.
At Horse Ability, we are proud to offer a diverse range of Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies that are customized for each and every client and group. These programs include:
All of these programs, with our equine partners, offer positive benefits for people of all ages and abilities.
Our trained human-and-equine team works with you to develop custom equine-facilitated learning sessions to meet your unique needs and goals, empowering you to move forward toward living your best life.
And great news! As of March 2023, we are newly a not-for-profit organization. We look forward to working with and assisting as many people as possible through our programs with our equine partners.

Horse Ability would like to acknowledge that we are situated on Aboriginal land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples from the beginning.
As settlers, we are grateful for the opportunity to meet here and we thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land - for thousands of years.
Long before today, as we gather here, there have been aboriginal peoples who have been the stewards of this place.
We acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabe peoples, in the Robinson-Huron and Williams Treaties areas. We would also like to acknowledge the neighboring communities of the Nipissing First Nation, as well as the Dokis First Nation. We wish to recognize the long history of the First Nations and Métis peoples in Ontario, and show respect to them today.
We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions of Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made, both in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole.
As settlers, this recognition of the contributions and historic importance of Indigenous peoples must also be clearly and overtly connected to our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our community, and in particular to bring justice for murdered and missing indigenous women and girls across our country.
Support Our Equine Partners: Help Us Make a Difference 🐴
Our horses are more than just companions - they are our partners in healing, learning, and connection. Providing them with the best care is our highest priority.
Our horse companions are integral to our equine-assisted activities and therapy programs which are dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, gain inner peace, and develop essential life skills. These incredible horses are at the heart of everything we do - they provide a calming presence, promote emotional well-being, and foster personal growth. Caring for them is a labour of love, and your support ensures they stay happy, healthy, and ready to continue their important work.
