Lori Burns

Founder, CEO, and Program Director

Lori Burns is the Founder, CEO, and Program Director of Horse Ability, an equine-guided wellness and experiential learning organization in Northern Ontario.

She is a multi-certified Equine Specialist and Equine-Guided Wellness Facilitator, trained in the Eagala Model, the TA Method, Patrick Buffalo’s Manaciso Healing with Horses, and Cartier Equine-Assisted Learning. Lori is also a certified Mindfulness Coach and trained in HeartMath, integrating heart-focused coherence practices into her equine-guided work.

Lori designs and leads experiential programs for individuals, groups, corporate teams, and community organizations, blending evidence-informed models with mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and what she describes as “energy intelligence” - the awareness of how presence, emotion, and nervous system regulation influence leadership and well-being.

Her work positions horses not as tools, yet as sentient partners in learning and healing. Through Horse Ability, Lori advances ethical, trauma-informed equine-guided programming that fosters resilience, authentic leadership, and meaningful personal growth.
